Welcome to the launch of Voice of the Fans, a digital magazine devoted to sharing inspirational stories and the impact of athlete’s philanthropy has had on their communities. So why focus on philanthropy – and giving back? We do not hear enough of these stories. We typically only hear about athletes off the court or off the field when they are involved in bad news or nefarious activities. This platform aims to shed light on their significant work off the court and the field by accentuating athletes’ philanthropic efforts in their respective communities with their foundations and partnering organizations.
A prevailing thought about some athletes is that they are talented yet spoiled and entitled. Time and time again, we hear this narrative espoused upon them, and far too often, the goodwill they engage in with their foundations and partnerships is swept under the rug or ignored. As content developers, we’ve yearned to change this narrative by accentuating educational, inspirational, and uplifting content on this platform.
Our audience can view our exclusive interviews with high-profile athletes such as Kobe Bryant on The Voice of the Fans Digital Magazine. It was enlightening to hear Kobe’s mindset and approach to grooming champions. Just as listening to Undisputed Welterweight Champion Terence Crawford reveal why he decided to remain in his hometown of Omaha, NE, when he could live anywhere in the country was inspiring.
Because this digital magazine is sports-centric, our audience will find articles that include our thoughts on current events in sports on our platform. Yet, we will focus on athletes and their willingness to uplift the communities they work and live in. Similar, to the story of former Los Angeles Rams Lineman Andrew Whitworth‘s decision to purchase and deliver bikes for an elementary school in an underserved community of Los Angeles.
Through an interview with the Governor of the Los Angeles Clippers, anyone can feel Steve Ballmer’s passion for giving back to the community, including what his philanthropic efforts mean to others. This energy was palpable when Ballmer introduced the Barack and Michelle Obama Community Center in the heart of Los Angeles. This is just another example of the content available in the interviews section of our Digital Magazine.
Convinced these stories of athletes persevering through their challenges while utilizing their platforms and foundations to give back to their respective communities can be inspiring for our audience. We want to highlight these activities while providing positive examples for the world to enjoy and share while combatting the negative headlines athletes often receive.
We can learn so much through sports and athletics. Like how hard work can impact one’s development. Also, how teamwork impacts the growth of a team and how quality leadership allows everyone on the team to grow. The confidence these transferrable skills give individuals can be instrumental in their personal and professional growth.
Ultimately, we intend for the Voice of the Fans Digital Magazine to be the location for fans and supporters to source our podcasts, articles, and interviews highlighting the philanthropic efforts of athletes and entertainers. We record a fresh podcast weekly and publish new articles each week for our audience’s edification.
Though our podcast is keen on general sports dialogue, we have segments on our podcast that differentiate the Voice of the Fans podcast from others on the market. We start the show with a numbers game that often reminds the audience of past sports legends. Our “This Week History” segment provides a look back on significant events to educate our audience. We end the show with a motivational quote from notable athletes, authors, and poets that our listeners can gain inspiration from and carry through the week.
