The Buffalo Bills put on a master class in bully ball as they steamrolled and bludgeoned the Seattle Seahawks 31-10 in front of 68,704 shocked and disappointed fans.
From the onset, this game was a physical mismatch on both sides. The Bills scored a touchdown on their opening drive of 90 yards and never looked back. Josh Allen was fantastic completing 24 out of 34 passes for 283 yards and two touchdowns.
In addition (stop me if you’ve heard this before) the Bills took advantage of the Seahawks’ inability to stop the run. Buffalo rushed for 164 yards, 117 of which came from third-year running back James Cook, who also scored two touchdowns.
With an offense that has already struggled to find some balance between the run and the pass, the absence of all-pro wide receiver DK Metcalf could not have come at a worse time. Especially since Seahawks running backs managed only 16 yards and quarterback Geno Smith threw for a modest 212 yards with no touchdowns and an interception.
For what it’s worth, the head coach was mature enough to take the blame for the lopsided loss while crediting the better team.
“That’s the result of good football team that outplayed us in three phases and then it gets out of hand when you’re doing the things we did today,” Seahawks head coach Macdonald said. “The long and the short of it is we got outplayed, we got outcoached, and we’ve got to make it right.”
Even with poor performances in three of their last four games the Seahawks still find themselves in a tie for first place in the NFC West. Next up is a big home game against division rival the Los Angeles Rams. This game will go a long way in deciding the divisional winner. We’ll see if the Seahawks can bounce back and salvage their playoff hopes, or if it’s time to start paying closer attention to college football and the upcoming 2025 NFL draft. Stay tuned.
