At Lumen Field on Sunday the Seattle Seahawks improved to 3-0 on the season with an impressive victory over the Miami Dolphins 24-3.

From the onset, it was apparent the undermanned Dolphins were in for a long day. Seattle scored points on their opening drive for the 2nd straight week. DK Metcalf was the focal point of the passing attack, catching four of his six targets and a team-high 104 yards. The largest being a 71-yard touchdown catch and run, to end the 1st quarter.

Zach Charbonnet filled in admirably for the injured Kenneth Walker III, by establishing the run game for the Seahawks. Charbonnet led the Seahawks in rushing with 91 yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries, and catching three passes for 16 yards out of the backfield.

Geno Smith again looked in total command of the Ryan Grubb offense passing for 289 yards and a touchdown. Smith efficiently distributed the ball to eight different receivers and effectively used his tight ends to convert on 3rd down in the middle of the field.

The Seattle defense took full advantage of a Miami offense playing without their starting Pro Bowl quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa. Backup Skylar Thompson was under constant duress which led to six sacks and 12 quarterback hits. He was also unable to find big-play receiver Tyreek Hill who was held to just three catches for 40 yards.

Thompson took a big shot from linebacker Tyrel Dodson to start the 3rd quarter. He would later have to leave the game after being thrown to the ground by defensive end Dre’Mont Jones and leaving the Dolphins to finish the game with their third-string quarterback.

Although the Seahawks never trailed on Sunday the Dolphins still had a chance to make it a one-possession game to start the 4th quarter.  With ten minutes left, Miami had 1st and goal from the Seattle 3-yard line, but the defense kept them out of the end zone with a turnover on downs.  On the next possession, the Seahawks put the game away with an impressive 98-yard drive capped by a Zach Charbonnnet 10-yard touchdown run.

“We always talk about closing the game and for the offense that was our opportunity to close the game… and just be on the attack right there,” Charbonnet said. “I think we did a great job.”

Regardless of how the victory was achieved, the Seattle Seahawks move to 3-0 sit alone atop the NFC West division. While the other teams in the division finish the week with a recor1-2. With this win the Seahawks, one of two teams with the undefeated record in the NFC.

“All that matters is that we win, however that we get it done,” Seattle QB Smith said.  “I’m not really particular about that, but 3-0. It’s a great start.”
